I drove down the country with a van full of bubble wrapped paintings at the weekend – 14 little pieces of ‘me’, not commissions but finished works, colour, size, composition, all in line with my aesthetics and satisfying to my eye.
Having been invited to exhibit as one of the 140 Contemporary Artists showing work at this year’s FLUX Exhibition – I’m now anxious, will my work stand up to life outside of my studio and by viewers other than me!
I left my works unwrapped and leaning against their allocated wall, it felt a bit like a betrayal an abandonment, but like waving young children off on the first day of school I’m a little bit proud too, I’ve done everything I can, prepared them as best as possible, now they’re on their own. Creating work for exhibition rather than a personal commission has been exhilarating and I will be doing more of this sort of thing, if you are able please visit and see for yourselves and do let me have your feedback.
