Domestic Animal Portraits

Domestic Animals

I’ve been commissioned to paint 100s of dogs over the years.  The responsibility for creating a piece of work that will become a family heirloom, lasting more than a lifetime, is one I take very seriously.  Meeting each dog with their human family is an important ingredient in my work and so I will visit, wherever possible, for a gentle photo shoot at the dog’s home.

Once a month I do a ’round Britain trip’ from my studio in Sussex to visit clients and deliver finished paintings all over the country. A photo shoot usually takes an hour with the choice of the final image and background colour resting with the client. Even for posthumous portraits, if possible, I like to visit, to hear stories of your dog and look through your treasured photos for the right one for me to work from.

These works are created in oil and spray paint, the most popular size is 60 x 60cm and I use a deep edge canvas, taking the colour around the sides, the work is delivered ready to hang.

I have a six month waiting list so a deposit is taken to secure a slot in my work load.

Loose Sketch

In addition to the formal portraits I am pleased to offer loose sketches on fine artists paper, also created using oil and spray paint with pencil detail. For these works clients need to send a suitable photograph. The finished works are supplied rolled in a tube and so would need framing by the client.

A deposit is required to secure a slot in my work schedule and there is a six months waiting list for these also.
